Loch Tummel and Loch Rannoch are celebrated in the Harry Lauder song 'The Road to the Isles'. Loch Rannoch is approximately 10 miles long and 1 mile across at its widest. The road runs alongside Loch Rannoch and eventually terminates at Rannoch railway station, but as it wends its way it gives easy access to the loch and views of the surrounding hills, including the distinctively shaped Schiehallion (3547 ft). Rannoch Station is a remote stop on the Glasgow to Fort William line. It's but a short walk from the railway station to Loch Laidon, where you can gaze on one of the last wilderness areas of Britain.
