Hardcastle Crags are close to Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. Once a centre for the manufacture of textiles, the area is now popular with walkers, mountain bike riders and horse riders. The Crags, and Gibson Mill (location for Dotheboys Hall in the 2002 film Nicholas Nickleby) are half way through the wooded valley. The riverside and woodland has much to offer as does the Mill. Trees include oak, pine and beech. The woods are also home to the hairy wood ant, so if you're there in the summer watch out that you don't squash any! The pictures in the woodland flower section of this website were all taken at Hardcastle Crags. Landranger Grid Reference SD985291
