The Horseshoe Pass is on the A542 from Llangollen. It passes the remains of Valle Crucis Abbey (1.5 miles north west of Llangollen) and Eliseg's Pillar (just to the north of the Abbey). Prior to the 'horseshoe' is a road that leads to World's End, limestone crags that resemble the crumbling ramparts of a giant's castle. The Horseshoe Pass rises to a summit of 1350 feet. It crosses the Maesyrychen Mountain and there are fine views, especially towards Eglwyseg Mountain, 2 miles to the east. The Ponderosa Cafe, restaurant and gift shop is at the summit and is very popular with motor cyclists as the road is great for bikers! Landranger Grid Reference SJ195474
