On 9th September 2007 Wast Water was voted
by ITV viewers as being 'Britain's Favourite
View', beating the three other finalists the
Gower Peninsula, Bamburgh Castle and County
Down. The Wasdale area is home to England's
highest mountains, with stunning views of
Great Gable, Lingmell, Pillar and the
Scafells. Wasdale is one of Lakeland's best
centres for walking and rock-climbing. It is
remote and unspoilt. I love it! Wasdale has
England's deepest Lake, its highest mountain,
the smallest church and the biggest liar! -
