A Christmas Carol Concert was held at the recently restored Gibson Mill on Saturday 16th December 2006. It was the first time a concert has been held at Harcastle Crags since 2003.

Venue : Gibson Mill - Hardcastle Crags - National Trust property. The distance from the car parks to Gibson Mill is 1.3 miles.

What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than a pleasant, late afternoon walk through the beauty of Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire?

Add to this the magic of a Christmas carol concert at Gibson Mill, mince pies and hot fruit punch, with music from a local brass band. Snow not guaranteed!

Until the concert was brought forward to 1:00 p.m. (for 2006) the journey back through the woods to the car park was even more atmospheric, as a trail of lanterns from the wassailers guided the way. The local car parks at Hardcastle Crags get very busy, so don't arrive too late!

Gibson Mill has been undergoing restoration by the National Trust. The project was completed in September 2005. Restoration has included providing access to the mill for visitors, information services, a tea room, toilet facilities, and space for educational and community use. Services included solar energy, the generation of hydro electricity, wood fuels (no fossil fuels) and locally derived and treated spring and rain water, with mains water not being an option.

Prior to the restoration Gibson Mill was transformed into Dotheboys Hall for the 2002 film Nicholas Nickleby.
