I am sad to report that Brian Clegg, the artist who created the work in this section of the website, died on Tuesday 25th September 2012, aged 73. Brian spent all his life in Whitworth. His grandfather (Abraham Jackson - known locally as Ab Mossey) was a quarryman / artist and Brian said that this is where he inherited his love of art. His other grandparents, Ned & Mary Alice Clegg, farmed Cote Farm (pictures 3 & 8) now developed as Cowm Park Estate. Ned Clegg was famous for his prize winning Shire horses, which he showed until his death in the early 1960s.
